Academic Math Tutoring

One-on-one support for classwork, tests, AP, IB, and college math.

Academic tutoring for the course the student is taking now, from daily assignments and difficult concepts to exam preparation, advanced material, and gaps in foundational skills.

Submitted materials are reviewed in advance, and sessions are planned around the student’s current priorities. Current coursework is addressed while also building the understanding and problem-solving skills needed to work more independently over time.

Areas of support

Help with current coursework and the skills behind it.

01

Course concepts

Revisit ideas that were covered too quickly, explained unclearly, or not fully understood the first time.

02

Assignments and problem sets

Work through current problems with an emphasis on reasoning and method, so the student can apply the same ideas independently.

03

Quizzes, tests, and exams

Identify what to review, practice relevant question types, and prepare for unfamiliar wording and variations.

04

Foundational skills

Strengthen prerequisite skills in algebra, functions, notation, and quantitative reasoning that the current course depends on.

05

AP, IB, and advanced math

Receive in-depth support for AP and IB courses, IB internal assessments, exam preparation, and advanced high school or college math.

06

Independent problem-solving

Learn to choose an approach, explain the reasoning, check the result, and try a different method when the first one does not work.

How it works

Built around the student’s actual course and current work.

Tutoring may be ongoing or focused on a specific unit, exam, or demanding period. The schedule and priorities are based on the student’s goals, course demands, and availability.

  1. 01

Share the course and current goals

Provide the course details, current priorities, upcoming dates, scheduling needs, and any concerns you would like to discuss.

  2. 02

    Submit current materials

Send notes, assignments, study guides, graded work, or upcoming test information so the material can be reviewed before the session.

  3. 03

    Work one-on-one

Kennedy teaches, questions, observes, and adjusts the session around the student’s understanding rather than a generic lesson script.

  4. 04

    Update the priorities as needed

The focus can change as new topics, assignments, and tests arise, while longer-term gaps and problem-solving skills continue to be addressed.

Choosing a service

Academic Math Tutoring can begin without an assessment.

Students preparing specifically for the SAT or ACT can choose SAT & ACT Math Preparation as a separate service.

Premium Mathematics Tutoring may focus on academic math, AP/IB preparation, SAT/ACT preparation, or a combination. It begins with an Initial Mathematical Assessment and includes advance planning, ongoing progress analysis, and regular parent reviews with specific recommendations.
